How to Award a Bonus Payment

Award bonuses to reward high-quality work or to compensate participants for technical issues.

How to Award

You can add a bonus to any unreviewed submission (Completed, Timed Out, etc.).

Workflow

  1. Click the "Award Bonus" button for the desired submission
  2. Enter the bonus amount
  3. Confirm the bonus award

Fund Reservation

The bonus amount will be reserved from your main wallet balance. If your funds are insufficient, you will be prompted to top up.

Common Use Cases

Technical Issue Compensation

This is the perfect tool to pay a participant who encountered a technical issue but provided proof of completion. You can leave their base pay at $0 (for a timed-out submission) and use the bonus feature to pay them the correct amount.

Quality Rewards

Recognize participants who provide exceptionally detailed or high-quality responses beyond the minimum requirements.

Completion Code Issues

Compensate participants who completed the work but entered an incorrect completion code, resulting in a $0 base payment.

💡 Pro Tip

When compensating for technical issues, document the reason in your records to maintain consistency and justify the payment if questioned.

⚠️ Budget Impact

Bonus payments are in addition to your original study budget. Monitor your wallet balance to ensure you have sufficient funds for bonus awards.

Best Practices

  • Be consistent: Apply similar bonus criteria across all participants
  • Document reasons: Keep records of why bonuses were awarded
  • Communicate clearly: If a participant contacts you about an issue, explain how the bonus addresses their concern
  • Budget appropriately: Set aside extra funds for potential bonus payments
