A Quick Guide to Your First Study

Launching a study on MobLab Research is a straightforward process. Here's a high-level overview to get you started.

Prerequisite: Add Funds to Your Wallet

Before launching, you must have sufficient funds in your account.

  • Navigate to the Wallet or Add Funds page.
  • All payments are handled securely by Stripe. You can download receipts for your transactions directly from the Wallet page at any time.

⚠️ Important

You cannot launch a study without sufficient funds to cover the estimated total cost (participant payments + service fees).

Step 1: Create Your Study

When you first log in, a default "Project" will be created for you.

  • From your project page, click "Create Study."
  • You will be directed to the study configuration page where you must fill in all the required details, such as the study name, description, compensation, and the external study link.

Step 2: Launch Your Study & Fund Reservation

Once your study is configured, you can launch it.

  • Upon launch, our system will automatically reserve funds from your wallet to cover the total cost.
  • This amount is calculated as: (Base Payment per Participant × Target Sample Size) + Service Fees
  • If you stop a study early or do not reach your target sample size, any unused reserved funds will be returned to your wallet after the study is completed and reviewed.

Step 3: Monitor Your Study

After launching, our platform will begin sending invitations to eligible participants.

  • You can monitor the progress, view completion rates, and manage submissions on the study's management page.

Step 4: Review Your Study

Once the participant completes their submissions, you'll need to review them and we will process payments.

Review Actions You Can Take

For each participant submission, you can:

  • Approve Submission: Accept the work and transfer payment to the participant
  • Add Bonus Payment: Award additional compensation for exceptional work
  • Reject Submission: Decline the submission with feedback (no payment transferred)

💡 Review Best Practices

  • Review submissions promptly to ensure participants receive timely payment
  • Provide clear feedback when rejecting submissions
  • Use bonus payments to reward high-quality work

Study Completion & Fund Return

After you have reviewed all submissions:

  • The study status will change to "Reviewed"
  • Any unused reserved funds (rollover money) will be automatically returned to your wallet
  • Final payment processing will be completed
