Payment Components
Study payments consist of two main components:
Base Amount
If you complete the study with the correct completion code, you will be granted the base amount almost surely. The base payment is the guaranteed compensation for completing the study requirements.
Bonus Amount
Some studies offer bonus payments based on performance or other criteria set by the researcher. If there is a bonus payment, the researcher will update the bonus pay before approval.
Payment Approval Process
Researcher Approval
You will receive payment once the researcher approves your submission. This generally happens within a couple of days after study completion.
Payment Changelog
You will be notified of any payment updates and can check the payment changelog on the study page to see the final approved amount.
Automatic Approval
If the researcher doesn't take action, the system will automatically approve your study with the latest payment history 21 days after your submission.
Payment Rejection Cases
Potential Reasons for Payment Rejection
Some potential reasons where your reward may be rejected (resulting in zero payment) include:
- Abnormal behavior: Way too short session time or other suspicious activity
- Zero payment studies: If a study has zero payment, you will be automatically rejected even if the researcher doesn't explicitly reject you
- Incomplete session: Not fully completing the study requirements
- Incorrect completion code: Entering an invalid or incorrect completion code
- Using AI tools or bots: Generating answers with artificial intelligence or automated tools instead of providing genuine responses
Note on screen-outs and understanding checks: If you were screened out of a study or didn't pass an understanding check, you should not be rejected. Instead, researchers should offer you either a partial payment or the option to return the submission. If you believe you were incorrectly rejected for these reasons, please contact the researcher using the "Contact Researcher" button and politely ask them to reverse the rejection.
If you made sure you completed the study but something just went wrong, please contact the researcher. They can add the base payment back as a bonus pay or offer you the option to return the submission.
Account Balance & Cashout
Once approved, payments are added to your MobLab Research account balance. You can then perform a cashout to transfer funds to your linked PayPal account.
